The rules for using UNBG, in plain language.

1. About these terms

UNBG ("UNBG", "we", "us") is a free website at unbg.me, run by [operator name: to be confirmed], that removes backgrounds from images in your browser. By using UNBG you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

2. The service

  • UNBG is free during the beta and needs no product account.
  • Background removal runs in your browser on your device. We don't receive your images (see the privacy policy).
  • We may change, pause or stop UNBG or any feature at any time. Because UNBG has no accounts, we can't notify you individually. Important changes will be announced on the site.

3. Your images and results

  • You keep all rights to the images you process and the results you create. We claim no ownership of them and receive no licence to them, because we never receive them.
  • You are responsible for what you process. Only use images you have the right to use. Don't use UNBG to infringe anyone's copyright, privacy or other rights, or to create content that is unlawful, deceptive or harmful, for example to impersonate someone or to fake documents.
  • Model and training data. The model publisher declares a licence (MIT); its source is listed on the About page. The model was trained partly on research datasets that have their own terms of use, which are also described there. We don't give legal advice about how you use your results. If you plan to use them commercially, check the licences and terms that apply to you. You remain responsible for having the rights to the original image.

4. Acceptable use

Please don't:

  • attack, overload or disrupt UNBG or its hosting, for example by automating very large numbers of requests for the site or model files;
  • try to get around security measures, or test for vulnerabilities outside the process on our Security page;
  • present UNBG, or results made with it, as the product of another company, or suggest that UNBG endorses you;
  • use UNBG in breach of any law that applies to you.

5. Application and third-party components

UNBG's application code is proprietary and is not licensed for reuse. It uses third-party software and model files with their own stated licences and notices, listed on the About page and in the full third-party notices. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under those third-party licences.

6. No warranty

UNBG is provided "as is" and "as available". Automatic background removal is not perfect: results can miss parts of the subject, keep parts of the background or produce rough edges, especially with hair, glass or low-contrast photos. Check every result before you rely on it. To the extent the law allows, we make no promises that UNBG will be accurate, uninterrupted, error-free or suitable for a particular purpose.

7. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, profits or business, arising from your use of UNBG. Because UNBG is free and processes your images on your own device, you are responsible for keeping copies of your original images. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

8. Trademarks and other companies

"UNBG" and the unbg wordmark are used by [operator name: to be confirmed]. remove.bg, Canva, Leonardo.Ai and Photoroom are trademarks of their respective owners. We mention other services to give dated information about their published offerings.

UNBG links to other websites, for example to cite a source. We are not responsible for their content or practices.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The effective date at the top shows when they last changed. If you keep using UNBG after a change, the new terms apply.
