How it works
UNBG runs in your browser. Your image is not uploaded to UNBG. Read the privacy details
How batch processing works
- Select several images. Drop them on the box or choose them together: up to 50 JPG, PNG or WebP files per batch.
- Watch the queue. Each image gets its own row with a thumbnail and its status. UNBG processes them one after another on your device, which keeps memory use predictable.
- Fix what needs fixing. Retry any image that failed, cancel ones you no longer need, or remove them from the list.
- Download. Save any result on its own, or select Download completed images as ZIP to get all finished cut-outs in one file.
The ZIP is created in your browser. It contains only the finished PNGs, not your originals.
File names in the ZIP
Each result keeps its original name with -unbg added: shoe-left.jpg becomes shoe-left-unbg.png (or shoe-left-unbg-white.png with a white background, and shoe-left-unbg-1a2b3c.png with a custom colour). The ZIP itself is named after the batch, for example unbg-12-images.zip. If two files would end up with the same name, UNBG adds a number (shoe-left-unbg-2.png) instead of overwriting one. Odd characters are cleaned so the ZIP opens on any system.
One background for the whole batch
Choose Transparent, White or a Custom colour once, and it applies to every image in the batch, so a catalogue ends up consistent. The ZIP uses whichever background is selected when you download it. Fine-tuning edges image by image (Refine) is available for single images only.
How long will it take?
It depends on your device and browser, because the work happens on your hardware:
- With WebGPU, the model runs on your graphics hardware.
- Without it, UNBG falls back to WebAssembly on your processor, which can be slower.
There's no daily limit: processing runs on your device, so speed depends on your hardware.
Tips for large batches
- Keep the UNBG tab open until the queue finishes. Some browsers slow down tabs in the background.
- Plug in your laptop. Batches keep the processor or graphics chip busy, and some devices slow down on battery.
- Close other heavy tabs such as video calls, games or other AI tools. They compete for the same memory.
- Split very large jobs. For hundreds of images, run several batches of up to 50, and download each ZIP before starting the next.
Good for
- Product catalogues and marketplace listings that need consistent white or transparent backgrounds.
- Team headshots for a website or directory.
- Event and social media assets where many cut-outs share one colour.
Questions
Is there a daily or monthly limit?
No. There are no credits or quotas. The only limits are 50 images per selection and what your device's memory can handle.
Can I process 500 images?
Yes, in batches of up to 50. Download each batch's ZIP, then start the next.
Are my originals included in the ZIP?
No. The ZIP contains only the finished PNGs. Your originals stay where they are on your device.
Is the batch uploaded to build the ZIP?
No. The ZIP is assembled in your browser, like the cut-outs themselves. How UNBG keeps images private
What if one image fails?
The rest of the batch carries on. The failed row shows why (for example "image too large"), and you can retry it or remove it.
