Remove a background in three steps

1. Add your photo. Drop it on the box above or choose a file. Still JPG, PNG and WebP images up to48 MB work.
2. Wait for the cut-out. UNBG finds the main subject and removes everything behind it. The first image takes longer because your browser needs to download and prepare the AI model.
3. Pick a background and download. Choose transparent, white or any colour, then select Download PNG.

Choose the right background

• Transparent is best for logos, stickers, presentations and designs where the image sits on top of something else. The PNG keeps full transparency, including soft edges.
• White suits product listings and catalogues that ask for a clean white background. (If a marketplace has exact photo rules, check them. UNBG changes the background only, not framing or margins.)
• Custom colour lets you match a brand colour or a slide theme. Enter a hex code or use the colour picker.

Get cleaner cut-outs

Automatic background removal works best when the subject is easy to tell apart from what's behind it.

• Contrast helps. A dark jacket against a light wall separates better than a grey jacket against grey concrete.
• Keep the subject whole and in focus. Motion blur and subjects cut off at the edge of the frame make edges less certain.
• Use the original file. Screenshots and heavily compressed images carry artefacts the model may keep.
• One main subject gives the most predictable result. Groups of people are usually kept together; mixed objects may not be.

Harder cases for any automatic tool: wispy hair against a busy background, glass and transparent objects, smoke, and shadows you want to keep. Zoom in and check edges before you use a result somewhere important. The Refine controls can help with edge hardness, softness and colour fringe.

What you download

• A PNG file named after your original, for example product-shot-unbg.png.
• The same pixel dimensions as your original, up to 60 megapixels, when your device has enough memory. If it doesn't, UNBG tells you and offers a clearly labelled smaller version.
• No watermark and no UNBG branding in the image.
• No hidden metadata: camera details and GPS location from the original aren't copied into the result.
